SSH to your raspberry pi via your mobile phone hotspot

By | September 30, 2016

After managing to get my wifi dongle working on my raspberry pi 2, I connected it to my Samsung S6. I could see it connected or “tethered” to the mobile hotspot I created and tried to SSH into it via it’s IP address. Needless to say it didn’t work due as my laptop and the pi were on seperate networks.

There are 2 ways to connect to the pi via SSH. You can go to the Google store and download an SSH app or the easier way is to connect your laptop to the mobile hotspot as well. Once you have done this, type the following:

>> ssh pi@raspberrypi.local

That’s it! It is that simple.
